Radiodetection, a world leader in critical infrastructure utility management solutions, has announced the rollout of its newly developed Sonde Locating Mode. Designed to deliver a highly intuitive user experience, this new operating method streamlines underground tracing by offering field technicians greater precision and highly consistent results, even in complex locating environments.
When locating buried pipes, ducts, or conduits using a Sonde, field operators frequently face fluctuating signal environments. Radiodetection’s new Sonde Mode addresses these challenges directly. By refining how the receiver interprets directional data, the update minimizes guesswork and simplifies the path to the target, allowing operators to locate the sonde's exact position faster and with a significantly lower risk of error.
Seamless Field Upgrades
The new Sonde Mode is fully backward compatible, enabling field crews to access the enhanced functionality using their existing locators. The feature can be retrofitted directly to active units already in service and is completely free of charge.
The upgrade is delivered via a standard firmware update through the latest version of the RD Manager Online desktop application, allowing organizations to quickly refresh their current fleet.
Supported Models and Future Outlook
The new Sonde Mode is available immediately for the following Precision Locators:
- RD7200
- RD8200
- RD8200G
To maintain a future-proof ecosystem for its customers, Radiodetection is already scheduling the next phase of this deployment. Integration for the recently introduced RD8200SG and additional Precision Locators is planned to follow this initial rollout, ensuring the entire product family benefits from enhanced utility tracking workflows.
