Radiodetection RD8100 Locator Range Keeping you on the Right Line

New range of locators delivering optimized precision for the damage prevention industry.

Subsurface utility infrastructures are growing denser and more complex, driven by population growth and the trend towards urbanisation. RD8100, Radiodetection’s new range of precision locators has been designed to deliver optimum precision for these demanding conditions. Featuring a unique arrangement of five antennas with optional integrated GPS and usage logging, the RD8100 keeps users on the right line while enabling them to demonstrate safe working practices and validate quality of work.

To follow a target utility through a complex network, RD8100 includes:

•    Power Harmonics: the harmonic properties of power signals are used to identify the presence of multiple cables and distinguish between them.
•    Customized Frequencies: up to five additional frequencies can be programmed by the user to customise the RD8100 to specific networks.
•    4 KHz locating with Current Direction, (CD): enables mid-range tracing of high impedance lines such as twisted pair telecom lines or street lighting power cables.  Used in conjunction with CD, operators can be sure they are staying on the correct utility.

At the heart of each RD8100 is a unique combination of five precision ground antennas which can be used in different combinations to ensure the optimum locate mode for the survey environment.  While using the accuracy of peak mode, users can now add the convenience of guidance arrows for quicker line tracing.  A single key press can then check for distortion that might indicate multiple lines or connections, the operator can now be confident of following the right line.

For field supervisors, there are the added business challenges of ensuring the safe working practices of remote crews while delivering customer confidence in their service quality. Integrated, automatic GPS and enhanced usage logging options address this need. By analysing usage patterns, users and management can assess individual locate operations to ensure compliance with best-practice, or to identify training needs. Additionally, the data can be used for internal audits or shared with customers to evidence task completion.

RD8100 is built on Radiodetection’s pedigree for performance, quality and durability and is backed with a three year warranty through product registration.
